Wynona Yinuo Wang

Chinese pianist Wynona Yinuo Wang launched her career after winning the First Prize at the 2018 Concert Artists Guild International Competition in New York City. Her recent North America performances include appearances with the Orchestra NOW, The DuPage Symphony Orchestra, the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra, the California North State Symphony Orchestra, and the Meadows Symphony Orchestra in Dallas. She has performed in major concert venues as the Sydney Opera House, the Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall, the Carnegie Hall’s Weill Hall, the Metropolitan Museum Grace Rainey Rogers Auditorium, the Merkin Concert Hall in New York City, the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, the Purdue Convocations, the Kravis Center, the California Performing Arts Center, the Whitney Center, the Conrad in La Jolla, and the Dallas Winspear Opera House.

In most recent seasons, Wynona has been presented by the New York Philharmonic’s Artist Spotlight Series, the Shriver Hall Discovery Series, the Myra Hess Memorial Concerts, the Tippet Rise Art Center, the Steinway Society of Western Pennsylvania, the Robbie Collomore Concert Series, and Music Mountain Chamber Music Season. She was invited to perform at festivals including Music@Menlo, La Jolla SummerFest, Mostly Mozart Festival, Bard Music Festival, Four Seasons Chamber Music Festival, International Keyboard Institute and Festival, Piano Texas, the Chautauqua Institution, Morningside Music Bridge in Calgary. She has collaborated in chamber music with artists including Garrick Ohlsson, Gilbert Kalish, Joyce Yang, Inon Barnatan, Kristin Lee, Paul Neubauer, Ani Kavafian, Marcy Rosen, Andres Diaz, Sterling Elliott, and Jordan Bak.

Internationally, she has been a featured soloist with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Academic Symphony Orchestra of the National Philharmonic Society of Ukraine, and the Romanian Mihail Jora Philharmonic Orchestra in Italy. She has also given numerous solo piano recitals in China—including cities such as Beijing, Qingdao, Hangzhou, Ordos City, Wuhan, Shenzhen, Kunming, Ningbo, and Dalian—as well as in Spain (Madrid) and Indonesia (Jakarta).

Her 2023-2024 season highlights include concerto engagements with the Pasadena Symphony Orchestra, the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra, the Midland Symphony Orchestra, and the Roswell Symphony Orchestra.

She has garnered top honors at numerous competitions: first prizes at the 2017 Wideman International Piano Competition in Louisiana, the Meadows Concerto Competition at SMU, the First Indonesia Pusaka International Piano Competition in Jakarta, as well as top prizes in the Sydney International Piano Competition in Australia, Artist Recognition Scholarship Awards Competition at NYC’s International Keyboard Institute & Festival, the Hamamatsu International Piano Academy’s competition in Japan, IX International Competition for Young Pianists in Memory of Vladimir Horowitz in Ukraine, and the Chautauqua Music Festival’s piano competition in New York State.

Born in Beijing, Wynona (Yinuo) began playing the piano at age 4 and studied at the Music Middle School at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing. In 2016, she was awarded a full scholarship for study at the Southern Methodist University in Dallas and earned her Performer’s Diploma under the tutelage of the eminent pianist Alessio Bax in 2018. She was awarded both the Paul Velucci Piano Award and the Harold Von Mickwitz Prize in Piano by SMU, and her name is listed among the Featured Alumni of SMU’s music school. In 2018, Wynona was named as “Legacy Pianist” by the Joaquin Achucarro Foundation. A recording album of Wynona’s performance will be released under Australia Decca label.

Wynona recently earned her bachelor’s degree at The Juilliard School with the Arthur Rubinstein Commencement Award, and she continues to pursue her master’s degree at Juilliard with Robert McDonald. In 2019, she was a recipient of the Charlotte White Career Grant awarded by Salon de Virtuosi. In addition to playing concerts across the US, she also plays numerous recitals in and around New York City, including at venues such as the Caspary Auditorium at Rockefeller University, the Howland Chamber Music Circle, the Hungarian House, the Parrish Art Museum, the Port Washington Library, the Bohemians, Piano Evenings series at Good Shepherd Church, Piano on Park at Park Avenue, and the Klavier Hall at Klavierhaus. She was also featured on New York’s WQXR radio programs to showcase her prize-winning successes.

Wynona is a Young Steinway Artist.
