Pablo Molano

“Pablo Molano is a pianist with unquestionable virtuosity.” (Banrepcultural) The critically acclaimed young Colombian pianist has captivated audiences in the United States, Europe and South America and is known for “[his] interpretive gifts, in expressiveness, sound, precision and driving” (Banrepcultural). He began his musical education in Bogotá at a very early age and, at the age of nine, he settled in the United States. He recently graduated as a scholarship student with the Eugene Istomin Scholarship and the Viola B. Marcus Scholarship from the Manhattan School of Music where he studied with Olga Kern and Alexandre Moutouzkine.
Among his outstanding presentations are his recitals in the hall of the National Museum of Colombia, in Bogotá; the Tateuchi Hall in Mountain View; the San Francisco Flower Piano Festival; Banco de la República in Manizales, the Luis Angel Arango hall in Bogotá.

In the 2022 season, Pablo made his first tour. He played in four different cities; West Palm Beach (Florida), Manizales (Colombia), Medellín (Colombia), and Bogotá (Colombia). His repertoire included Ravel's Gaspard de la Nuit and Rachmaninoff's Sonata in B flat minor (in which he combined the two 1913 and 1931 versions to create his own version) among other works. It was in this season that he was invited to play as a featured artist soloist at the IberAcademy festival and the CiMA festival.
He was the winner of the Grand Prix in the III Geneva International Music Competition and as such was invited to the Uniti Nella Musica festival in Rome. While being there he participated in the AC Melos International Piano Competition and won the first place. He was also a finalist on NPR's From the Top. With chamber music he was the winner of the Santa Cruz Chamber Music Competition in California playing César Franck's Piano Quintet.

He has participated in prestigious festivals such as the Miami International Piano
Festival Academy, Art of the Piano Festival in Cincinnati, Aspen Music Festival as a fellow and the Gilmore Piano Festival Fellowship. Pablo has played for masters such as Jorge Luis Prats, Paul Lewis, Gabriela Montero, Boris Slutsky, Solomon Mikowsky, Matti Raekallio, Robert McDonald, and Meng-Chieh Liu. His musical preparations were developed at Valley Christian High School in San José, California, where won second place in the Piano Honors Competition and as a scholarship student from that institution, he was part numerous productions and musical concerts in San José. At the same time he was awarded a scholarship for three consecutive years in the music program San Francisco Conservatory pre-college where he was a student of Erna Gulabyan.
