Olivia Ouyang
Olivia Ouyang is a pianist recognized for her expressive depth, technical mastery, and refined artistry. Winner of the 2025 Beverly Hills National Audition and First Prize at the 2023 GOCAA International Piano Competition, she has also been honored with awards such as the Mannick Music Fund Award, the Gwendolyn Koldofsky Scholarship, and the Van Lear Keyboard Award. Her recent engagements include invitations by the University of Southern California to publish in the university journal and to present at the USC Live Stream Forum, as well as a feature interview with Voyage LA magazine. She has appeared in recital and chamber settings across the United States, Europe, and Asia, with notable performances at Carnegie Weill Recital Hall in New York, Salle Cortot in Paris, Wiener Saal Mozarteum in Salzburg, and leading venues throughout China, including Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen.
In addition to her performance career, Ouyang is deeply committed to education. As Artistic Director of Octave Music Academy in Los Angeles, she has developed a dynamic teaching studio that guides students to high achievement in examinations and public performance. She is a Steinway Educational Partner, frequently collaborating with Steinway & Sons on educational and artistic initiatives, including concert events and community outreach projects. Her work reflects a dedication to fostering artistry and musical growth among the next generation of pianists.
Ouyang is currently a Doctor of Musical Arts candidate at the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music, studying with Kevin Fitz-Gerald, where she also earned her Master of Music in Collaborative Piano. She previously served as a piano instructor at Columbia University’s Teachers College while completing her Master of Arts in Music Education with Randall Allsup. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from the Eastman School of Music, where she studied with Douglas Humpherys, and received her early training at the Wuhan Conservatory of Music under Yiqing Wu and Wan Chen. For six years, she was also mentored by Steinway Artist Chu-Fang Huang through the Ameri-China International Music Association, a formative experience that shaped her artistic development and international outlook.
